A living idle RPG

Wanderer

Explore a living fantasy world that keeps moving while you're away.

A relaxing idle RPG about one long road east. Walk it, fight what crosses you, shelter in lantern-lit towns, and grow stronger — whether you're watching or not.

Free to play · Browser, Android, iPhone & iPad · No energy bar

One road. A whole world along it.

Every wanderer starts at Wanderer's Rest and walks east into stranger country. How far you get is up to you — and your wanderer keeps walking while you're away.

The golden fields and eastbound road through Gilded Vale

Wander

Cross meadows, black fens, frozen reaches, burning ridges and the ruins of a fallen empire. Thirty-two regions, each with its own face, monsters and music.

Fight

Hundreds of creatures stand between you and the world's end — wolves and bog-horrors early, bone colossi and worse much later. Train Attack, Strength and Defence to meet them.

Gear Up

Loot and smith your way through 26 tiers of weapons, shields and armour, from a worn blade to legendary gold. Mine ore, smelt bars, forge upgrades at town blacksmiths.

Rest Easy

Twenty-eight settlements line the road — safe ground with shops, blacksmiths, and locals who talk. Even build a house of your own along the way.

A shipwreck on Wanderer's Shattered Coast

Find the Strange

Shipwrecks on a salt coast, a god's head fallen in the ash, a beast frozen in glacier ice. The road is long and it remembers everything.

Travel east

The scenery changes. The road does not.

Real places from the live world, from the first safe fields to the last monoliths.

From the world itself

Guides and development updates

Practical help for the road, alongside an honest record of how Wanderer keeps changing.

What you actually do

Eight standing orders, six skills, one long road.

Explore & fight

Walk east into 32 hand-built regions. Monsters find you; fights resolve from your Attack, Strength, Defence and gear. Win loot, push your furthest-east record, and meet the bosses — from the Drowned King's chapel to the doors of the Forgotten Sanctum. Combat guide →

Mine, smelt & smith

Twelve ores, fifteen town forges, and a crafting chain that turns rock into legendary gear. Forge your own pickaxes and axes — they wear in their own tool slots. Smithing guide →

Build & belong

Twenty-eight settlements, safe ground and services; a house of your own on a roadside lot; leaderboards for distance, combat and craft; a chat full of people walking the same road. Towns guide →

Your first session, honestly

  1. Wake in Wanderer's Rest. Tap to walk; try the travel modes.
  2. Step past the walls — the basin's slimes and boars are the gentlest fights in the game.
  3. Mine copper and tin in the fields west of town; smelt bronze at Gregor's smithy; smith your first gear.
  4. Walk east until Thornwald's canopy closes over the road, and shelter at Hollowbrook.
  5. Pick an offline mode, close the tab, and come back to a summary of everything your wanderer did without you.

The full version is in the getting-started guide — and the World Atlas shows every region, town and landmark you're walking toward.

Who it's for

Wanderer suits players who like idle and incremental progression, persistent worlds, pixel art, gear collections, and games that respect time away. There's no energy bar, no daily chores, no pay-to-win — and no rush: the road will still be there tomorrow. Questions? The FAQ answers the twenty most common, from monetisation to what defeat costs (position, never items).

How offline progress works →

Quick answers

Is Wanderer free?

Yes — the whole game is free. Optional rewarded ads and the monthly Wanderer Supporter subscription fund development; neither sells gear, levels, or exclusive progression.

Is it pay-to-win?

No gear, levels, or stats are sold. Supporters receive the same temporary 2× XP-and-coins boost available through optional rewarded ads, plus cosmetic recognition.

Can I play it in my browser?

Yes — playwanderer.online/game runs the full game in any modern browser, desktop or mobile, no install.

Is there an Android app?

Yes — on Google Play. Same world, same account as the browser.

Is there an iPhone or iPad app?

The native iOS build is being prepared for the App Store now. See the iOS release status.

Does progress continue while I'm offline?

Yes. Your wanderer keeps doing whatever you set — travelling, fighting, mining, smithing — for up to your offline cap (one hour to start, extendable to twelve). See how offline progress works.

Do I have to play with other people?

No. The world is shared — you'll see other wanderers on the road and on the leaderboards — but there's no PvP and nothing requires a group.

What happens if I lose a fight?

You're revived at the nearest town you've unlocked. Defeat costs position and a little time — never items, never gear, never XP.

Can I delete my account?

Any time, permanently — the account deletion page has the steps.

Does browser progress carry to the mobile apps?

Yes — it's one account on one set of servers. Sign in in your browser, on Android, or on iPhone/iPad and you're the same wanderer.

Is the game still being updated?

Actively — the changelog and blog track every update, from new regions to balance work.
