Age Suitability

A plain account of what's actually in Wanderer, the age we recommend, and the reasons behind it — so players and parents can decide for themselves.

Our recommendation

We recommend Wanderer for players aged 13 and up. The game's own content is gentle — the age line is set almost entirely by one thing: players can talk to each other in an open chat. Everything else is milder than the recommendation suggests.

App-store age ratings are set by each store's own questionnaire and may be shown as Apple 13+ and Google Play Teen. The most relevant content descriptors are Mild Fantasy Violence, Users Interact and In-App Purchases / Ads.

What's in the game

  • Mild fantasy violence. You fight monsters and the occasional boss, but combat resolves automatically in a stylised pixel-art view. There is no blood, gore, dismemberment or realistic violence, and nothing that targets people.
  • No mature themes. There is no sexual content or nudity, no depictions of drugs, alcohol or tobacco, and the game's own writing contains no strong language.
  • No real-money gambling and no loot boxes. Loot comes from ordinary play. Nothing in the game asks you to wager or pay for a random reward.
  • A slow, pressure-free pace. No timers, no reflexes, no penalties for stepping away — the tone throughout is calm exploration.

Talking to other players

This is the reason for the 13+ line. Wanderer has an open chat (General, Bug Reports and Suggestions channels) where messages are shared with everyone online, so — as with any live chat — you may see text written by strangers. We take reasonable steps to keep it civil:

  • Automatic moderation on every message — a profanity filter that also catches disguised spelling (spacing, repeated letters, leetspeak/symbol swaps), plus spam detection.
  • Escalating consequences — offenders are warned and then temporarily auto-muted on repeat offences.
  • A way to reach us — anything the filters miss can be raised through the contact form, which reaches the developer directly.

No automated filter is perfect. Chat can't be turned off from inside the game today; if that matters to you, the contact form is the place to say so.

Money and advertising

  • The game is free to play. Everything core is available without paying.
  • One optional subscription. A "Supporter" membership (around US$2.99 per month, priced per region by the store) adds cosmetic touches and a temporary 2× boost. It is not required and grants no competitive edge you can't earn by playing.
  • Ads are opt-in only. The single ad format is a rewarded ad you may choose to watch for a temporary 2× XP/gold boost. There are no forced, interstitial or pop-up ads. On the web this uses Google AdSense; in the app it uses Google AdMob.

All payments go through the platform's own billing (the App Store, Google Play, or the web checkout), so the usual parental spending controls apply.

Accounts and data

Playing signs you in with a Google account to save progress. What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy; account deletion is self-service on the delete-account page.

Advice for parents

If a younger player is going to play, the two things worth knowing are that chat is public and that a subscription and rewarded ads exist — both covered above. Device-level screen-time and purchase controls work with Wanderer exactly as they do with any other app. If a specific concern isn't answered here, the contact form reaches the developer directly.
