Recommended level: roughly 34–50. Monster strength in Wanderer rises steadily with distance east, so the west edge of a region is always gentler than its east edge.
The region
Blackfen is the region players remember. A maze of reed beds, stagnant channels and sunken stones where the road is sometimes the only solid ground, patrolled by things that drown and things that float. Gravewater, the swamp refuge, sits on stilts in the middle of it — a genuinely welcome sight after a bad stretch of bog.
The fen rewards patience: fights come frequently and the drop tables here begin carrying mid-tier gear. If the Drowned King finds you at the chapel, treat him with respect — he is the first boss most wanderers meet, and the first most lose to.
Settlements
Towns are safe ground — hostile creatures will not follow you past the boundary.

Landmarks
- The Drowned Chapel — A chapel half-swallowed by the swamp; the Drowned King waits.

Getting here
Blackfen sits east of Grimvale, with Hoarfell Reach beyond its far border. Teleport scrolls (sold at Wanderer's Rest, 1,000 coins) can return you instantly to any town you have already discovered, which makes the first walk through a region the only slow one.
