Hoarfell Reach

Snow highlands of frozen lakes, ice caves and treacherous mountain passes.

Recommended level: roughly 44–60. Monster strength in Wanderer rises steadily with distance east, so the west edge of a region is always gentler than its east edge.

Roadside combat against Frostspire Reach natives — an ordinary fight at this latitude.

The region

The climb into Hoarfell Reach trades mud for ice. Frozen lakes crack underfoot, the frost wyrm sleeps in the falls, and Hearthhold — a mountain refuge with fire always lit — anchors the middle of the region. Highforge Outpost near the eastern edge is the last full blacksmith for a long while, so bring your Aethersteel ore here.

Cold country favours the prepared: come with your gear tempered and your HP topped, because the recovery breathers between frost-country fights are shorter than the fights themselves.

Settlements

Towns are safe ground — hostile creatures will not follow you past the boundary.

Getting here

Hoarfell Reach sits east of Blackfen, with The Cinderlands beyond its far border. Teleport scrolls (sold at Wanderer's Rest, 1,000 coins) can return you instantly to any town you have already discovered, which makes the first walk through a region the only slow one.
