Greyfell Hills

Rugged windswept uplands of watchtowers, mines and broken roads.

Recommended level: roughly 14–27. Monster strength in Wanderer rises steadily with distance east, so the west edge of a region is always gentler than its east edge.

The region

The uplands are Wanderer's mining heartland. The Iron Ridge north of the road carries iron and the game's first coal seams, and Stonewatch town below it has both a blacksmith and a store — which makes this stretch the classic place to settle in for a few sessions, running ore down the hill and steel out of the furnace. The Ruined Fort landmark on the road south is an early test of nerve: bandits hold it, and they hit harder than the hill wolves around them.

If you only learn one production loop in Wanderer, learn it here: mine at the ridge, smelt at the town furnace, smith at the anvil, and watch three skills climb at once.

Settlements

Towns are safe ground — hostile creatures will not follow you past the boundary.

Getting here

Greyfell Hills sits east of Thornwald, with Grimvale beyond its far border. Teleport scrolls (sold at Wanderer's Rest, 1,000 coins) can return you instantly to any town you have already discovered, which makes the first walk through a region the only slow one.
