Blackroot Wilds

An ancient black forest sanctuary, lit by roots and watched by things older than towns.

Recommended level: roughly 117–141. Monster strength in Wanderer rises steadily with distance east, so the west edge of a region is always gentler than its east edge.

The region

An ancient forest that was old before the empire was young. Blackroot Wilds is a sanctuary region — the haven under the roots is druid-kept and genuinely safe — but the woods themselves are watched, and the root gate and stone circles mark rules older than any kingdom. The art direction goes fully nocturnal here; bring your sense of wonder.

Fights in the Wilds run level 117–141 and favour evasion-heavy loadouts; the forest's creatures hit fast rather than hard.

Settlements

Towns are safe ground — hostile creatures will not follow you past the boundary.

Getting here

Blackroot Wilds sits east of Highmere Pass, with The Last Cairn beyond its far border. Teleport scrolls (sold at Wanderer's Rest, 1,000 coins) can return you instantly to any town you have already discovered, which makes the first walk through a region the only slow one.
