The Balance Week: Faster Levels, Fairer Drops, Softer Requirements

Shipped 26–30 June 2026. Zone 3 got the headlines a week later, but this quiet week of balance work is what made the doubled road walkable.
The XP curve, halved
Every skill's level curve was cut in half — levelling is now literally twice as fast, across combat and gathering alike. The old curve had been tuned for a smaller world; with the road about to double, "eventually" needed to arrive sooner. Nobody lost anything: existing XP totals simply bought more levels the moment the patch landed.
Soft equip, and the 1–250 ladder
Two changes turned loot from a tease into a plan:
- Equipment requirements halved. The gear ladder now runs level 1 to 250, roughly one tier every ten levels — the same 26 tiers, reachable a great deal earlier. (Stats didn't move; the gear you were chasing is exactly as strong, just sooner.)
- Soft equip. Gear above your level is no longer a locked door — wear it now and it contributes a fraction of its stats, ramping up smoothly to full power as you reach its requirement. The quadratic ramp means near-level gear is nearly full-strength while far-above-level loot can't carry you past country you haven't earned.
Together: a lucky drop is never dead weight in the pack again. Wear it at 60%, grow into it, feel the piece get stronger with you.
Drops that respect where you are
The drop system was rebuilt on two rules: monsters drop gear from three tiers around their own level (no more level-30 wolves handing out endgame boots — or, worse, starter scraps to a frontier veteran), and rarity follows a fixed per-tier halving ladder, so the odds of Refined/Rare/Epic/Relic are consistent and knowable everywhere on the road.
Offline combat, retuned
The offline simulation's explore pace and fight durations were tightened so away-time can't outrun live play, and a rare double-payout when two devices raced to log in at once was fixed. Away-time stays a first-class citizen — it just pays its taxes now.
This is the foundation everything since — Zone 3, the castle pass, this month's smithing rebalance — stands on. Current values always live in the guides.
