Cat Quest is exactly what its "Diablo with Cats" pitch promises — a small, cheerful, pun-stuffed open-world action RPG that turned out to be the first chapter of a genuine franchise rather than a one-off novelty. Nine years and two sequels later, the charm still lands; the fetch-quest padding underneath it is a different story.

The Gentlebros send their beloved cat-and-dog action RPG series to sea with a pirate theme, sharper combat and the same charming, pun-filled tone fans love — but at a higher price than its predecessor and, by both critic and player consensus, with noticeably less content than either of the two games it follows.
